Site News Archive
In this archive you'll find all of the Site News published on the Home page of this website since its launch. Everything archived here relates either to all of the Lyndenlea websites, or just to this site in particular. For Site News specific to another Lyndenlea website please see the Site News Archive on that site. Note that the archive is arranged in chronological order, so the most recent news in a particular year can be found at the end of the page.

- You'll be seeing a change in the Site News from now on - instead of short one-line items, I've decided to start adding more detail in the hope of making it more informal. I can't promise updates will start appearing more frequently, but keep checking back so you don't miss anything!
- At the beginning of July this year I started keeping detailed log files, recording each time a visitor viewed a page on a Lyndenlea website. This required me to update the Privacy Statement, but in fact I ended up completely rewriting it. I admit that I perhaps should have updated the Privacy Statement before I started keeping the log files, but as none of the data collected has been publicly available until now, I hope you'll forgive me this one small dereliction of duty.
- The updates to the Privacy Statement affect how I collect personal information on the websites, so I've also made some changes to the Feedback page. There have also been a few minor amendments to the error-handling scripts, and to the Breadcrumb Trail and browser window title.
- To accompany the new log files, I've added a new Statistics page to the section on The Websites. This page explains the log files in more detail, and also gives you the chance to see the numbers of visitors to each of the Lyndenlea websites since the beginning of July.

- A new Resource Description Framework (RDF) document has been added to the sites. This contains the latest version of the ICRA content labelling system, which is used by filtering software to control access to Web pages. I've also reviewed and updated the legacy PICS labelling that's embedded in the HTML code, so older browsers will still be able to interpret it.
- I've rewritten the HTML code behind the dynamic Site Menu so it now renders as a proper "unordered list". This should make it more accessible for browsers with special requirements (such as screen readers) or limited capabilities (such as not supporting Cascading Style Sheets). In addition, the menu now has a third tier in its heirarchy for multi-part pages.
- The sharp-eyed amongst you will have noticed that the Google search box has disappeared from the bottom of each page. I've temporarily removed it because of a rendering issue in the Mozilla Firefox browser, but never fear! You can still use Google search on the updated Search page, now accessible via new links in the Site Menu and at the bottom of the page, and I'll reinstate the search box on every page in the next update.

- To help you navigate around the Lyndenlea websites, I've added a new Site Map page to each site. This page essentially contains a fully-expanded version of the dynamic Site Menu, but it will hopefully make it quicker and easier for you to find the page you're looking for.
- A further navigation aid and accessibility feature has also been added to the top of each page. The new Skip to: links are intended to move the focus directly to various parts of the page, but it seems a few browsers don't fully support it (most notably Microsoft Internet Explorer 6).
- As promised in the previous update, the Google search box has been reinstated on every page. It's now at the very top of the page (sadly at the expense of the site icon), but for the sake of simplicity will only search the Lyndenlea websites. The full Web search facility is still available, however, and can be found via the Advanced Search link just below it. Note that the links to the Search page have now been removed from the Site Menu and the bottom of the page.
- Largely due to lack of use, just over a year after adding it, I've removed the Support Lyndenlea page and feature from the Dynamic Site Menu. I guess it takes more than just the prospect of a warm fuzzy feeling to entice people to part with their money!
- Following the recent surge of additions to the websites I've almost entirely rewritten the section on The Websites, distilling it down from five pages to three and removing the Code Validity and Child Safety pages. Full information on these two important topics can now be found on the opening page of the section.
- I've also made some small presentational changes to the page on The Poem, largely to improve its look in the Mozilla Firefox browser and on small-screen devices.

- I've updated the "Latest Site News" feature on the Home page so it now displays not only the most recent news bulletin, but also any bulletins published in the week leading up to the most recent one. This will ensure that no bulletin is pushed off the page any sooner than a week after it's published. However, bear in mind that the most recent bulletin will always appear first here, unlike in the Site News Archive where the most recent bulletin appears last.
- Also, I've introduced a visible gap - both on the Home page and in the Site News Archive - between "global" (Lyndenlea-wide) and "local" (site-specific) news items to highlight the difference between the two. This will be evident in previous news bulletins as well as future ones.
- Finally, I've rearranged the content on the Home page so that the paragraph about the other (frankly more interesting!) websites here at Lyndenlea appears earlier. This should help to retain passing visitors who land on this page and don't scroll down, and who might previously have missed the fact that there's more here than just this one site.

- Due to an inexplicable idiosyncracy on the Web server, I've updated the Statistics page under The Websites so it should now correctly display the total visitors for all months since July 2007.
